NaxToDoc User’s Guide#

Welcome to the NaxToDoc user’s guide.

NaxToDoc facilitates the extraction of images directly into Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, optimizing the creation of technical reports in an efficient and precise manner.

With NaxToDoc, you can automatically update images in your reports without the need to return to the viewer. Simply modify parameters such as the file name, result type, magnitudes, or camera position from the NaxToDoc window, significantly streamlining the documentation process.

1. Access and Work Enviroment#

To start working with NaxToDoc:

  1. Open Word (or PowerPoint/Excel).

  2. Go to the “Add-ins” tab.

  3. You will see three new icons: NaxToView, NaxToDoc, and Add Images.

With NaxToDoc, you can capture, insert, or edit images directly within the document.

2. Inserting Images Into Documents#

There are two ways to insert images into a document:

  1. From NaxTo View → Save to Word: Direct capture from the viewer.

  1. From disk → Add image from NaxToDoc: Use previously saved images. This option allows you to insert multiple images at once. In both cases, when saving images, it is essential to select the XML icon. This ensures that, along with the image, the information used to create it is stored, allowing future modifications.

3. Image Management and Editing#

From the NaxToDoc pop-up window, you can:

  1. View all images inserted in the document.

  2. Check their technical parameters.

  3. Modify any parameter by clicking on its value.

  4. See a summary of the changes made.

This provides full traceability and flexibility for each included image.

4. Applying and Replicating Changes#

After modifying parameters, click ‘Apply changes’ to reflect them in the document.

You can also replicate these changes across multiple images:

  • Right-click on the change.

  • Select “Apply changes to other images.”

  • Choose the images where you want to apply the change. If necessary, you can stop the process and check the change log.

5. Updating images with new results#

If the analysis results have changed, you can easily update the images with new result files.

Option 1:

  • Change the ‘FilePathFem’ value in the parameters.

  • Apply the changes.

Option 2:

  • Replace the old file with a new one using the same name.

  • Click ‘Update images’ to recalculate automatically.

6. Tips ans Best Practices#

  • You can have multiple Word windows open with independent instances of NaxTo View.

  • Save your work regularly and review the log if applying multiple changes.

  • Use the replicate changes function to save time when working with large documents.
